Changing the turn #002

We all have wished for life to turn from tragic to magic “overnight” at least once in our life.
“Yeah, cause life’s just that kind.” – Ross (S2:E24, F.R.I.E.N.D.S.)
There’s no loss in wishing though. Btw, let me tell you a fact: people are making a business out of our wishes, especially this one. Tell me you haven’t come across a single video on YT or Instagram saying, “Do this, if you want to change your life.” There are thousands of them.
I’m no different than you. I scroll a lot. I’ve watched multiple reels & posts on Instagram where someone claims that a certain video, quote or a person has changed their life. I give such reels some special attention. It never seems to make any difference for me. I kept wondering, “What the heck is wrong with me? Why don’t any of these things leave an impact strong enough to change my life?”
On a very serious note, I do find some of them really inspiring. I save them or share them with myself. Promise myself to work on it. I feel excited for like 5–10 minutes and then I keep scrolling. That inspiring quote remains latent in my “Save” section until I unknowingly open it someday to find the location of the café I saved for later. (Hopeless! I know)
I do have all-time favorite quotes though, such as:
“All the effort is pointless, unless you believe in yourself.” – Guy Sensei (Naruto)
[Self-doubting is pretty much what I do in my leisure time]
• “It’s in the past. You can’t be mad about the past.” – Phoebe (S5:E12, F.R.I.E.N.D.S.)
[I get mad enough to ruin my day]
• “If can’t say anything nice, don’t say nothing at all.” – Bambi
[Yeah, I wish]
See. It’s not like I don’t have inspiring thoughts in my list. It’s that I don’t feel that just one quote can fit for all phases of your life. They all sound good, admirable and motivating, but one needs to feel connected. Lucky me! I found my connection.
I was reading this book for the second time (first time didn’t work, obviously). The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Since it has so much awesome stuff to read, these two points grabbed my attention:
• Page no. 13, Chapter 01: Don’t try; second para
• Page no. 160, Ch. 07, a quote by Mr. Packwood
Those were the words. Words that felt like, “Jise banaya (likha) gaya sirf mere liye.”
It fitted perfectly for the ongoing phase of my life. No confusion, distraction or instant gratification. Just clarity. As if I saw the next step clearer. I realized, there was nothing wrong with me. I was just trying to apply inapplicable actions to the current phase of my life. Then I got the right one.
I won’t say it has changed my life completely, but it did give me some better turns to turn my life around (I wish I could write overnight).
“Don’t just sit. Do something. The answers will follow.” – Mr. Packwood
Here’s my right one. I hope you find yours too.
